Appointed by Lovell Homes to complete the enabling works to prepare the site for the construction of 49 new residential properties.
Project challenges / GDL solutions
- Access through site to the existing Primary School had to be maintained.
- The close proximity to an existing residential area and local businesses meant that it was essential that we kept disruption to the local community to a minimum.
- Our construction activities were scheduled to take account of and minimise the impact to the previously constructed Phase 1, occupied properties.
- Stockpiled materials from previous construction activities were to be incorporated within our works which meant materials management was crucial.
Project benefits for the client
- A reduction in the number of piled properties resulted in significant cost savings and simplified house foundation construction for the follow on contractor.
- Cut / fill balance was achieved due to the modification of materials previously stockpiled due to unsuitability without treatment.
