Appointed by Bellway Homes to provide modified housing platforms to eliminate the need for piling and to treat on-site materials to provide a road capping replacement material.

Project challenges / GDL solutions

• Fill placed by another earthworks contractor to a lesser specification had to be excavated to allow for treatment and replacement to achieve a full structural specification to allow standard stiffened foundations in lieu of piled foundations.
• Working in a very tight working area alongside the follow on contractor meant that the careful programming and co-ordination of our works was crucial.

Project benefits for the client

• A reduction in the number of piled properties resulted in significant costs savings and simplified house foundation construction for the follow on groundworker.
• A stabilised capping replacement material was provided in lieu of imported stone.
